Hyundai Venue: The new car in town

The Hyundai Venue may just meet these needs.

Dawid Henning, the sales executive at Hyundai Namibia, says for the price of N$278 996 you not only get a lot of car, but also back-up in the form of service plans, warranties and a well-trained sales and service team.

The Korean brand was initially frowned upon in Namibia as being unreliable, ugly and not the car anyone wants to be seen driving.

It, however, has not taken long for this perception to change.

The Venue is an entry-level vehicle with the specifications and technology expected in advanced vehicle models.

The car comes with a host of standards, like air conditioner, automatic headlights, steering-wheel multifunctional controls, and keyless entry, while some models come standard with push-start buttons and cruise control.

Some models even come with driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags.

The car, with its SUV looks and high ground clearance, will make it more than just a city hopper.

It is ideal for travelling long distances, and with its 45-litre fuel tank it can reach a distance of well in excess of 650km with fuel to spare.

Henning says the Venue has an average combined cycle of 6,5l/100km, with CO2 emissions of 148g/km.

The 1,2l engine delivers 61kW, complemented by a six-speed manual gearbox, making it nippy and easy to handle in town and city conditions.

The centre console is well designed with enough storage space for things like house keys, cellphones and snacks.

For the tech junkies, the car's infotainment system is both Apple and Android compatible, with enough charging ports for those electronics most cannot live without.

The Venue also comes with a reverse camera for easy reverse parking.

The car is available in six colours with high-end interior finishes.

If the R16 diamond-cut alloy wheels, dark chrome front grille, or LED tail lamps do not get your attention, perhaps the service plan or warranty would convince you to get the keys to your Venue.

Henning says the car comes standard with a three-year/45 000km service plan, while Hyundai comes with a seven-year 200 000km warranty.

Hyundai falls under the AMH group, with showrooms in Windhoek and at Swakopmund, while their accredited and approved service agents are available countrywide.
