Huge cocaine haul at Keetmans

POLICE at Keetmanshoop yesterday seized 9,4 kg of cocaine, with an estimated street value of N$4,7 million, in an impounded car that is evidence in an existing drug-smuggling case.

Two Angolans arrested in December last year on charges of drug dealing appeared on a new charge in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court yesterday. They are Daniel Joao Paulo (40) and Josue Manuel Antonio (42).They have been in custody since December 2007, when cocaine with a street value of N$16 million was found in the car they were driving. The discovery was made after Police pulled over the men’s car at a roadblock about two kilometres north of Keetmanshoop.According to the Police, they recently received a tip-off that there was more cocaine hidden in the impounded car.The two suspects were allegedly trying to hire someone to steal or break into the car parked at the local Police station to remove the remaining drugs.Paulo and Antonio have to return to court on December 3.They are Daniel Joao Paulo (40) and Josue Manuel Antonio (42).They have been in custody since December 2007, when cocaine with a street value of N$16 million was found in the car they were driving. The discovery was made after Police pulled over the men’s car at a roadblock about two kilometres north of Keetmanshoop.According to the Police, they recently received a tip-off that there was more cocaine hidden in the impounded car.The two suspects were allegedly trying to hire someone to steal or break into the car parked at the local Police station to remove the remaining drugs.Paulo and Antonio have to return to court on December 3.
