The Office of the Attorney General has appointed Anna Haitembu-Shihengo as its chief of legal advice effective 1 March.
Haitembu-Shihengo, who previously held the deputy chief position, succeeds recently retired Chris Ngaamwa.
She will oversee the directorate of legal advice and support the attorney-general in advising the president and government on legal matters.
She brings a wealth of expertise, holding a PhD in jurisprudence, a master of law, a bachelor’s degree in law with honours, and a bachelor’s degree in international law and international relations. Her professional background includes participation in Namibia’s Trade Negotiations Team and representation of the government at regional and international forums.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the attorney general’s office says Haitembu-Shihengo’s expertise spans trade, commercial and international law, as well as treaty systems, legislative scrutiny and contract negotiation.
The office welcomes her appointment, expressing confidence in her contribution to legal governance.
“The Office of the Attorney General welcomes Haitembu-Shihengo to her new role and looks forward to her continued advancement of sound legal governance,” attorney general office spokesperson Edmund //Khoaseb says.
