Gweri Vintage Collection to launch Gwine

Gweri Vintage Collection, known for their popular line of Gweri Socks, has collaborated with Erongo Mountain Winery to expand their product line with their own bottle of Gweri wine – aptly called Gwine.

It is a Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon blend, and a prototype was sold for the first time at the recently concluded sixth edition of the Kasi Vibe Festival. Other varieties, including a Chardonnay, are currently in production.

Though the wine is not yet available to the public, wine lovers could get ahead of the general crop of consumers and secure themselves a bottle at the three-day event, held from 31 May to 2 June. Gwine will be officially launched in the coming weeks at an exclusive event.

This is a major milestone Gweri Vintage Collection, headed by young entrepreneur and creative Pinehas ‘ZuluBoy’ Shikulo, who has already bagged multiple accolades this year. Aside from being the face of MTC’s 4G OSmartphona campaign, his sock line partnered with Gondwana and is available for sale in Nictus Giga.

It’s been quite a busy year for the young man who is also a performance artist with the group Ama Daz Floor, releasing music under the moniker ‘Tate Gweri’ and can now add wine merchant to his growing list of titles.

Gweri Vintage Collection says that they thought about releasing wine because ZuluBoy is such a wine lover, and that it fits with the overall dandy theme of the collection.

“I wanted something with an air of that sophistication and exclusivity that comes with dressing in the vintage style,” ZuluBoy said.

After close to a year of conceptualising and developing the product, the team thought it was the right time to release, though according to their official social media sites, they have other products in the development and testing phases too.
