Grootfontein mayor Morits Geingob has called for road users to exercise vigilance while driving to prevent accidents, especially during this festive season.
He said this during the launch of the town’s road safety campaign on Monday.
Geingob said it is imperative to create awareness about road safety by encouraging responsible driving and to safeguard the community during the upcoming festive period.
“Being vigilant on the road will also ensure a peaceful celebration for residents and visitors alike,” he said.
The road safety campaign, initiated by the town’s municipality, aims to educate drivers and residents on not driving under the influence of alcohol, avoiding overloading, keeping vehicles roadworthy, planning trips, and respecting speed limits and traffic officers.
