GIPF and pensioners meet

WINDHOEK – The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) is planning to establish a pensioners’ association with the aim to maintain a cordial relationship with the fund’s Board of Trustees as well as to protect the pensioners’ interests.

GIPF officials and close to 50 pensioners gathered yesterday for a two-day workshop to deliberate on the establishment of the pensioners’ association. One of the objectives of the association is to provide a channel through which the GIPF can provide feedback about its activities. The other objective of the association is to act as a forum to arrange social functions for pensioners. The association will also help to network with other pensioners’ organisations to advance the objectives and to seek formal recognition of the association’s right to represent members’ interests and to be consulted on matters that are likely to affect pensioners.Addressing workshop participants, GIPF Chief Executive Officer Primus Hango explained to the participants that through the association GIPF would establish credible and sufficient channels of communication with the pensioners, adding that the fund would also exercise its social responsibility among senior citizens who made their contribution to the growth of the fund.-NampaOne of the objectives of the association is to provide a channel through which the GIPF can provide feedback about its activities. The other objective of the association is to act as a forum to arrange social functions for pensioners. The association will also help to network with other pensioners’ organisations to advance the objectives and to seek formal recognition of the association’s right to represent members’ interests and to be consulted on matters that are likely to affect pensioners.Addressing workshop participants, GIPF Chief Executive Officer Primus Hango explained to the participants that through the association GIPF would establish credible and sufficient channels of communication with the pensioners, adding that the fund would also exercise its social responsibility among senior citizens who made their contribution to the growth of the fund.-Nampa
