THE Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy has approved a retail licence for a new service station at Elisenheim Lifestyle Estate, paving the way for the development of a long-awaited fuel supply facility in Windhoek’s rapidly expanding northern corridor.
The approval allows Petrosol Petroleum Solutions CC to proceed with plans to establish the Elisenheim Service Station in partnership with Elisenheim Property Development Company Limited.
The project is expected to provide fuel and convenience retail services to more than 5 000 residents living in approximately 1 500 households at the estate, where the nearest filling station is currently more than seven kilometres a
way.
The licence marks the culmination of several years of planning and engagement between the two companies.
APxHouse Property Development Holdings chief executive Le-Hugo van Rooyen says the approval represents another step towards fulfilling the original vision for Elisenheim.
“Elisenheim was never conceived as just another residential estate – it was planned from the outset as a complete, stand-alone community.
Few services matter more to daily life than fuel and convenience retail close to home, and this licence brings that vision another step closer for our residents,” he says.
Petrosol says the development forms part of its strategy to expand its retail network in Windhoek while investing in infrastructure that supports economic growth, job creation and improved service delivery.
The company identified Elisenheim as a strategic location for a service station several years ago as the estate continued to grow.
“A nearby service station is something you only stop taking for granted when you don’t have one. We look forward to giving Elisenheim’s residents back the time they spend driving for fuel, and to being part of this community for the long term,” says Petrosol representative Johan Botes.
The planned service station will complement the existing Urban Village Retail Centre and forms part of Elisenheim’s long-term vision of becoming a fully integrated and self-sustaining community.
Further details on construction timelines and project milestones are expected to be announced as the development progresses.
