Founding president Sam Nujoma has been hospitalised but is now in a stable condition.
This was confirmed by his son, Utoni Nujoma, on Thursday evening.
“Yes, it is true, my father has been admitted, but his personal doctor said he is improving and that’s all I can say at this moment,” he said.
Utoni said his father was admitted five to six days ago in a Windhoek hospital.
The Namibian understands that high-ranking government officials were this week told that Nujoma was in a critical condition.
His personal doctor, Tshali Ithete, did not respond to questions sent to him on Thursday regarding Nujoma’s hospitalisation.
The founding president was also hospitalised last July.
Following his hospitalisation last year, the Office of the President thanked Namibians for their continued support and empathy towards Nujoma.
