A RETIRED Namibian Defence Force (NDF) member died in a car accident in the Zambezi region last night, after he lost control of his vehicle while trying to overtake another car on the Ngoma road.
The man who died in the accident has been identified as Nkawa Bernard Nkawa.
Zambezi police spokesperson inspector Kisco Sitali said the accident happened in the Kakona area and Nkawa died on the spot.
The accident is alleged to have occurred when a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by Nkawa collided with a Volkswagen Polo which it was trying to overtake, Sitali said. Nkawa lost control of his vehicle, which overturned.
The driver of the Polo was not injured.
Sitali said a case of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving and driving a motor vehicle without a licence was registered at the Katima Mulilo Police Station.
