A lot can happen in two years.
South Africa can go from beating New Zealand at the Rugby World Cup to losing against them at a test match. Puppies can become fully grown dogs. Your children can wear their last nappy.
Two years is a long time.
Unless you’re an investor. Then two years is boggerol time.
In some cases you can barely get the permits you need to start building in two years.
So that leaves me wondering why our old employment permit only gave investors and business owners two years to accomplish something.
Two years were never going to convince anyone to build something permanent.
Thankfully, as of September, this will change. Home affairs has brought in a new permit – for up to five years – specifically to allow investors and employers to operate in the country.
And, in a shocking turn of events, the price remains the same.
It’s still N$2 600, but it goes a lot further now.
I only wish home affairs can perform the same magic on my diesel.
