Fire at Old Mutual Tower

A NUMBER of west-facing corner offices in the Mutual Tower building in the centre of Windhoek’s Central Business District were on fire shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning.

Based on a statement issued yesterday by Old Mutual Namibia, the fire started on the outside of the building, but the cause of blaze is still unknown and a full forensic investigation is underway. The fire allegedly started at an advertisement board and then spread to the first and second floors of the building.No one was harmed, and the fire was contained very quickly.According to the statement by Tracy Eagles, Old Mutual Marketing Executive, all systems are running as usual and all company data remains intact. ‘Old Mutual is happy to announce no detrimental impact to any valued customer data has occurred, and all systems and services continue to be at their disposal,’ the statement reads.
