Exit talks new album, England trip

David Shikalepo, known as Exit.

Award-winning musician David Shikalepo, known as Exit, will be releasing a new album titled ‘Bread winner’ during Easter.

Following his return to Namibia after performing in England at Reni’s Event Centre in Manchester, Exit says he is ready to start the year with a bang.

“I am currently working on my new album, which will be released in Easter 2025. It’s shaping up to be something really special, and I’m excited for fans to hear what I’ve been working on,” he says.

Introducing his body of work bit by bit, Exit released the first single ‘Chain of Command’ recently.

Reminiscing on his trip to England, Exit describes his performance in Manchester as an incredible experience.

“It was great to connect with the Namibian community in a whole new environment. Seeing over 400 people at Reni’s Event Centre in Manchester really made me feel appreciated and loved,” he says.

“The crowd was amazing. It was surreal to see so many familiar faces being so far from home. I also learned during my stay of the power of community and cultural connection, no matter where you are in the world. I felt right at home with the Namibian diaspora in England. It reminded me how music bridges gaps and brings people together, regardless of where we come from,” Exit says.

Apart from performing, the artist also watched a Manchester United game live, a bucket-list event for him.

“Being a big football fan, it was a dream come true to experience a live match at Old Trafford. The atmosphere was beyond anything I could have imagined.”

Exit performed songs such as ‘Okastyla’, ‘Koskola Daar’, ‘Slow by Slow’, ‘My Notebook’, ‘Go to Malawi’, ‘Catering’ and ‘Kondjifa’.

“It was heartwarming to see how much my music resonates with fans, even those far from Namibia,” he adds.

Describing his energy as rejuvenated after the trip, Exit says he is ready to kickstart the year with exclusive bangers while introducing new music videos.
