Ex-deputy minister Ya Kasita dies at 68

Former deputy minister and National Council member Henock ya Kasita has died at the age of 68.

According to Swapo’s regional coordinator in Oshana, Samuel Nelongo, Ya Kasita died on Friday morning in a hospital in northern Namibia.

Ya Kasita was the deputy minister of lands and resettlement from 2008 to 2010, and deputy minister of mines and energy from 2003 to 2008.

He served as regional councillor for the Okaku constituency in the Oshana region and represented the region in the National Council from 1993 to 2010.

Ya Kasita was a combatant in the People’s Liberation Army of Namibia before Namibia’s independence.
