NAM CULTURE … Next Tuesday is ‘Strictly Local featuring Sally Boss Madam’ at Thuringerhof Hotel from 18h00.

From music and activism to learning opportunities and social gatherings, this week’s events calendar is full of activities that reflect our vibrant community life. Here are some of the happenings to look out for this weekend and in the days ahead.

This Weekend

You have till tomorrow to enter Namibia’s Biggest Multi-Event Festival, which will take place from 1 to 31 May. They are looking for musicians, choirs, comedians, poets, performers and volunteers. Email magucinmay77@gmail.com to apply.

The Living Earth Expo 2026, a practical showcase for ways to live and eat healthy, which are grounded in regenerative solutions in food, water, energy, shelter and community, kicks off tomorrow. Over two days, farmers, families, entrepreneurs, schools and innovators will come together to explore real solutions that work in our climate and economy. Discover topics like the healthy food network in Namibia, nutrient density, organic and permaculture growing methods, water-wise systems, renewable energy technologies, natural building approaches and community-driven enterprises designed to strengthen local livelihoods. The event starts at 12h00 at Dagbreek School for the Intellectually Impaired and continues on Saturday.

This Saturday is the SlutShame 2026 Walk, Workshop and Connect in Windhoek. From 10h00 there will be a march from the Katutura Community Arts Centre to Brewers Market in the city centre. At noon, the workshop will commence with topics such as gender-based violence prevention, how to report incidents and access legal support, sexual and reproductive health and rights, psychological trauma support and how gender justice connects to climate justice. There will also be live entertainment. Entry is N$50 for the workshop for those who don’t attend the march. Another session is scheduled for Walvis Bay on 25 April.

Big Ben will be live in concert on Saturday evening at Zoo Park, featuring DJ Kiki, DJ Ambizzy and The Ells. Entry starts at N$150 and the show begins at 16h00. Expect spectacular performances, stunning lights and the legendary chimes. Come together for one historic open-air event.

Next Week

Next Tuesday is ‘Strictly Local featuring Sally Boss Madam’ at Thuringerhof Hotel from 18h00. This event is a movement to support local artists and give every attendee a premium experience of Namibian culture.

Filmmakers and enthusiasts between 18 and 35 have until 24 April to submit a CV and application to be part of the fifth season of the NBC Drama School. Selected participants will work on a feature length production across the various cinema disciplines. Email makawa@nbc.na to start the process.

On 25 April the Ondangwa Trade and Industrial Exhibition will have a live music show featuring Patrick Sikiliza, Dama Monique, Duppa and D Rex Underfire from 21h00.

Drop in on Quiz Night and flex your cerebral cortex at Piccolo Cafe and Lounge every Tuesday from 18h30. Entry is N$30 per person for groups of maximum six.

On Wednesdays you can also grab two ice cold beers from the tap for the price of one at Vinyls Music and Arts Cafe.

The Speakeasy on Liliencron Street is hosting Ladies’ Night every Wednesday with 50% off of all cocktails and meal options available.

Every Thursday Kat Stahl is hosting Swing Dance Classes at Delta Kindergarten between 18h00 and 19h00. Participation is N$150 per person per class. No experience or partner needed.

Every other Thursday is a social activities event ‘Make Friends and Bla Bla Language Exchange’ at Urban Oasis Apartments in Windhoek from 20h00 to 22h00. Come through, mingle and get acquainted free of charge

Fridays you can now join Nice Dance Kizomba dance classes at their Windhoek Academy between 17h30 and 19h00 at the National Theatre of Namibia Rehearsal Room. Lessons are N$100 per person.

The National Theatre of Namibia is hosting the Stage Actors Training Lab 2026 every Saturday in their Rehearsal Room between 09h00 and 13h00. These sessions are for aspiring actors, emerging performers and professional actors seeking to refine their craft. N$50-per-class tickets are only available via Webtickets.
