Executive director of education, arts and culture Sanet Steenkamp called out schools for a lack of planning after the ministry increased the budgetary allocation for stationery and hygienic needs.
“What happened with this money,” she questions.
Steenkamp was speaking at the the official release of 2024’s national Grade 11 and 12 examination results on Tuesday.
She said schools should get better suppliers if the current ones do not deliver textbooks and stationery on time.
“Then we are faced with the situation where we did not plan, and are not transparent and open about the budget,” she said.
