The initiative by the corporate sector to discuss how they can improve corporate social investment in Namibia is a welcome development.
Dubbed CSI Mukopano, a meeting is slated for 11 August and will bring together the private sector, development partners, entrepreneurs, educators and policymakers to share ideas and strengthen partnerships.
This is a progressive move.
The organisers, among them MTC, FNB Namibia, the Capricorn Foundation and the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, should be lauded for driving this initiative to reform how the private sector gives back to communities.
Corporate social investment in Namibia appears to be fragmented and should be coordinated better.
Part of those discussions should also include how the corporate sector supports the sustainability of civil society and the media, which are key to our democracy.
