Editorial: A Lesson From Hotto

Deon Hotto

Around 16 years ago, Deon Hotto was playing football in Swakopmund’s first division, having learned the game on the streets as a teenager.

Today, he is part of a team on the cusp of winning the Betway Premiership, South Africa’s top-flight football league.

Like national team captain Peter Shalulile, Hotto has consistently raised the Namibian flag beyond our borders.

His non-profit organisation has said it will plough benefits back into the community, including a sport stadium at Swakopmund.

We hope this sets an example of the kind of role model our country needs – lesson in quiet consistency and giving back to communities
