AS HOH this week, Eddie has had to take on a leadership role, particularly with regards to this week’s task. The create-a-garden task started on Tuesday, when the housemates woke up to a totally dressed-down garden.
The grass, flowers and shrubs had all been removed as Biggie wanted to get them to create, design and plant their very own garden. The housemates wagered 100 per cent for this task and as HOH, Eddie told Biggie in one of his diary room sessions, a wager of 100 per cent means the housemates must put in 100 per cent effort. And boy, have they put in a whole lot of effort. With Eddie taking his responsibility as HOH seriously, he has led the rest of the housemates, even working late into the night to ensure the garden looks better than ever by yesterday evening’s task presentation. He’s done so well, even the other housemates have noticed. Former HOH Leonel, who didn’t attract much positive feedback after his stint at the controls, said Eddie encouraged everyone while working on the task. Mzamo, Eddie’s second in command, was also impressed with his leadership style, saying he takes input from the other housemates. Geraldine agreed that Eddie was a good HOH, while Emma said he offers good guidance and motivation.I don’t think any other HOH has gotten such positive feedback, which is really great for Eddie. Being HOH is not always as great as it seems, as most HOHs are usually nominated for eviction the following week. Hopefully, the housemates positive feelings about his leadership style will prevent them from nominating him next week, so that our funny guy sprints to the BBA finals in a little over four weeks. Meanwhile, the create-a-garden task looked almost doomed to failure, after constant rains for the last couple of days. Despite the cold, rain and mud the housemates really gave their all to the task. They were out there digging and planting even in the rain and late into the night. Although they hadn’t finished yet, even after two backbreaking days of working in the garden, the housemates woke up yesterday morning to a completely transformed garden. I think Biggie must have felt sorry for them. They really tried hard, but the rain made a royal, muddy mess of everything. The housemates were pleasantly surprised to discover that ‘secret garden fairies’ had met them halfway. At the time of going to press, the housemates were lounging around having a relaxed morning in the sun while planning their summer-themed cocktail party in their brand-new, relaxing garden. As part of the task, the housemates will also be required to give a tour of the new garden, explaining the concept, design, layout and giving detailed information about the various flowers and plants. Music lovers will be happy to know that DJ Waxy, who has regularly entertained housemates in previous seasons will be back in the BBA house to spin some funky tracks on Saturday night.
