Swakopmund residents were spoilt for choice as the Swakopmund Night Market, the Stand Easter Market as well as the Cosdef Easter Market all took place on the same weekend. The Swakopmund Night Market once again served up an entertaining event at the Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre. This time around, the event kicked off early with something for the kids, specifically the Easter egg treasure hunt. The children were expected to look for and find Easter eggs which were strategically hidden in the venue. With various stalls on offer, the bonfire warmed those in attendance as well as the exhibitors. What is a market without a bit of music? Quite a dull affair. Luckily this was not the case, as musical acts like 8th Octave, Riaan Smit, as well as a dancing act known as the Elementz, added some ambiance to the occasion.Another interesting feature to this edition of the Swakopmund Night Market was a hamper worth N$1 500 that was up for grabs to those who attended. The hamper included handmade jewellery, cupcakes, biltong and other goodies. The fun open-air atmosphere provided a perfect setting for the whole family to unwind, relax and have a good time.Closer to the ocean, the iconic Strand Hotel served up more activities for both young and old to enjoy.Dubbed as the Easter Weekend at the Strand Hotel Swakopmund, the three-day event started with a drive-in cinema on Friday, which allowed residents to watch the film, 'Onward' from the comfort of their cars. On Saturday, 16 April, the much-anticipated Strand Easter Market took place, featuring various stalls displaying foods, crafts and clothing, as well as musical entertainment from busking artists like Momo. The setting was ideal, especially for those who arrived from other parts of the country, who could enjoy dipping their feet in the ocean before buying a few souvenirs for the road. The Easter Weekend at the Strand Hotel Swakopmund concluded with a delicious Easter lunch buffet at Farmhouse Deli on Sunday. On the B2 highway towards Usakos, the Community Skills DevelopmentFoundation (Cosdef) arts and crafts centre is a base for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) training courses, and once in a while it also hosts exciting markets like the one which took place there last weekend. The likes of Afrikaans artists like Nomad, as well as legendary band G3 entertained music lovers.“People had so much fun, little bunnies were hopping around looking for Easter eggs, great live music and a fantastic crowd was present,” said the Cosdef centre's marketing coordinator, Jessica Le Grange.- unwrap.online
