Du Plessis wins monthly medal competition

Chris du Plessis was the overall winner of the the penultimate ABinBev Monthly Medal Competition at the Windhoek Golf Club on Saturday.

Du Plessis had a gross score of 85 and a nett score of 64 to win the overall prize. 

Charles Lohmann won the A division with a nett score of 69, after beating Laban Malule and Johan Grobler on a count-out. 

Paul Grobler won the B division with a nett score of 69, followed by Paul Adkins (72) and Aldo Beukes (73), while Keith Gardiner won the C division with a nett score of 69, followed by Duke Beukes (71) and Walter Bredenhann (72). 

Lovisa Vilho won the women’s category with a nett score of 65, followed by Lucy Mohale (71), who beat Evelyn Paulino on a count-out. 

The nearest-to-the-pin winners were Coen van Graan on the third hole, Sesilia Nkoshi (ninth hole), Duke Beukes (13th hole) and Elvin Kamana (17th hole). 

A total of 54 players competed in the tournament which was sponsored by ABinBev.

The medal series will be used to determine the medal champion of the year. The competitors qualify for the Tournament of Champions at the end of the year where the best 24 players will be split into two groups of 12 and compete over 54 holes.

The Windhoek Golf Club will host the Williams & Knight betterball competitions next weekend.
