Teen dies after being hit by car at Kavango West

A 15-year-old boy identified as Kaveto Ndara died instantly after he was hit by a vehicle while walking along the B10 road at Dudu Village in the Kavango West region on Tuesday.

Police regional commander commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo confirmed the incident on Wednesday, stating that it occurred at around 06h30.

The victim’s next of kin have been informed of his death.

The driver has not been arrested.

In a separate incident, an 18-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday after he was found in possession of illicit goods at the Nkurenkuru open market in the Kavango West region.

Sakuwa-Neo said the incident occurred at 09h09 and the illicit goods included 539 packs of Yes cigarettes valued at N$10 790, ten single Yes cigarettes valued at N$20, four bottles of Rumba Whiskey valued at N$ 20, and four sachets of Noki Whiskey valued at N$700.

In a third report, a 53-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly being found in possession of suspected stolen items at around 05h00 at Katwitwi Village on Tuesday.

Sakuwa-Neo confirmed on Wednesday that the suspect was found with 15 bags of maize meal and 63 bottles of cooking oil meant for the drought relief programme, without providing a satisfactory explanation as to how she acquired the items.

The value of the goods has not yet been determined.

Investigations into the matter continue.
