Multichoice Namibia is preparing to overhaul its DStv package structure in South Africa following Canal+’s takeover of the group.
Its sport package will be the first dedicated sport-only offering from DStv and is reportedly expected to cost from R399 a month.
It is expected to focus heavily on football, including Premier League and Champions League matches, as well as cricket, and will include news networks.
MultiChoice Namibia chief executive Roger Gertze says the company regularly reviews its products and package offerings to ensure it continues to meet customers’ changing needs.
“Where changes affect customers, we will communicate with them directly, with appropriate notice,” he says.
Gertze says the company’s focus remains on evolving its offerings to give customers across Africa more choice and value.
The South African revamp is expected to replace the existing DStv package structure with five bouquets: Starter, Select, Sport, Movies & Series and Premium.
The reported Movies & Series package will focus on general entertainment, while Premium will retain premium sport content such as Formula 1, MotoGP, rugby, golf and tennis.
It remains unclear whether the South African package changes will be introduced in Namibia.
DStv Namibia currently offers Access, Family, Compact, Compact Plus and Premium packages.
MultiChoice Namibia has not confirmed any changes to the local package structure, including the introduction of a standalone Sport package.
Gertze says customers will be informed directly and given appropriate notice should changes affect their services.
