Don’t worry, be happy this festive season!

As the year comes to an end, I think it is imperative for me to express gratitude for all of you who read this column.

I see the Instagram comments and don’t worry, I agree that sometimes I have too much fun with this introduction. Truly, it’s a lot of fun to spotlight Namibian arts, entertainment and culture throughout 2025.

This week we have DJs, live bands, chess training, comedy, poetry, a quiz night and so much more. All I ask is that you drink responsibly, drive sober, eat a balanced diet, spend time with your family, wear sunscreen and consume lots of water, for the love of God.

Today

College of the Arts invites you to the most epic ‘Nothing But Fun Concert’ at their main campus in Windhoek today between 16h00 and 21h00. Entry is N$50 for a night filled with fun and performances by Ou Slow, Lela, Taini, Shafa and Tapz.

This Weekend

This Friday at Zoo Park, catch Tuizano and band live from 20h00. Entry is N$100 at the door.

This Saturday Vinyls Music Cafe presents Broken Records: The Last Dance, featuring Selector O Skool, Grzly Adams and DJ Musketeer on the decks from 18h00. Entry is N$50.

Next week

On Monday, 8 November I’m launching my debut novel ‘Iniquity’. It’s a gritty psychological thriller set in Windhoek and available for N$300 a pop. My details are at the bottom of the page.

There’s a holiday chess camp from next Monday to Friday at Westlane Shopping Centre in Windhoek. Daily classes run between 08h00 and 13h00. Fees are N$250 for registration and N$1 500 for the camp. This includes a free chess set, a certificate and study resources.

Bellhaus Atelier & Galerie is hosting an art auction featuring Hage Mukwendje, Gazza, The Ells, Galilei Njembo, Oliver Risser, OYO and many others on Tuesday, 9 December. Ilke Platt will be the master of ceremonies, with live shows by Yola B and Lize Ehlers. Entry is free from 18h00. There will be special pieces and artefacts available for bidding.

On 13 December is Hi Dezember featuring DJ Kiki, Dreas, Tumi Mohamed, Soul Brothers, Mr Lucas and Bizza on the decks. Come through to Protea Hotel Furstenhof for N$250, all day.

The National Theatre of Namibia is hosting the Stage Actors Training Lab 2025 every Tuesday and Thursday in the Rehearsal Room between 14h00 and 17h00. N$50-per-class tickets are only available via Webtickets.

Watch professor Francis Sifiso Nyathi’s play ‘God of Women’, which will air every Tuesday and Friday on One Africa’s ‘Learn On One’ programme from 16h30. It is perfect for Grade 9 pupils and anyone interested in Namibian storytelling.

Drop in on quiz night and flex your cerebral cortex at Piccolo Cafe and Lounge every Tuesday from 18h30. Entry is N$30 per person for groups of maximum six.

On Wednesdays you can also grab two ice cold beers from the tap for the price of one at Vinyls Music and Arts Cafe.

The Speakeasy at Liliencron Street is hosting ladies’ night every Wednesday with 50% off of all cocktails and meal options available.

And the last Wednesday weekly shindig is comedy and poetry night at Sicilia’s Restaurant and Lounge from 19h00. Cash prizes of up to N$1 000 are up for grabs for performers. Spots are limited.
