DJ Sbu, Tatchell jetting in for business summit

South African entrepreneurs Sbusiso Leope, popularly known as DJ Sbu, and Sheldon Tatchell are expected to jet into Namibia on Friday to headline the anticipated sixth edition of the Business Summit Namibia in Windhoek on Saturday.

Summit founder Martin Nankela says the event will serve as a premier networking platform for entrepreneurs, business leaders, and innovators to connect and collaborate.

DJ Sbu is the founder of MoFaya, while Tatchell is the chief executive of Legends Barbershop.

Leope is a prominent social entrepreneur, DJ, radio and television host, music producer, and author.

Over the past two decades, he has established himself as a prominent youth icon through his high-energy media career and business ventures.

Tatchell is a prominent and innovative entrepreneur, with Legends Barbershop being widely recognised as one of the leading grooming franchises in southern Africa.

The project has rapidly scaled to more than 80 stores.

Nankela says the summit will be held under the theme ‘Building Scalable and Formidable Businesses Through Disciplined Execution and Tireless Commitment’.

It will also feature renowned local and international speakers, engaging panel discussions, business exhibitions, and valuable networking opportunities designed to inspire entrepreneurship and business excellence in Namibia, he says.

Local speakers lined up to make presentations include Standard Bank Namibia executive Hellen Amupolo, Hannah Nangula, the founder and chief executive of Hannah Nangula Cosmetics, and Windhoek-based RFC Creative Agency chief executive Reggie Zaire.

The Hannah Nangula brand specialises in premium cosmetics engineered for Namibia’s hot and dry climate, as well as high-end salon and training services.

RFC Creative Agency is a prominent, award-winning digital content, film-making and production agency that specialises in artificial intelligence-integrated, story-driven videos, sleek brand commercials, TV production, and professional photography.

“The focus of this segment is information sharing, digital skills, smart banking, and business compliance to help local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) scale and create jobs,” Nankela says.

“More speakers will be added to the programme,” he says, adding there will be stalls where SMEs can exhibit their products and services.

South African entrepreneurs have featured prominently in past editions of the business summit.

The City of Windhoek Business Summit took place on 5 July 2025, featuring top entrepreneur Connie Ferguson as the keynote speaker, and focused heavily on local entrepreneurship, SME empowerment, and scaling businesses to help reduce Namibia’s unemployment rate.

The celebrated South African-Motswana actress, film-maker, producer, and businesswoman has anchored the African entertainment landscape for over three decades.

The 2024 edition of the business summit was a premier grassroots networking event designed to empower informal traders, young entrepreneurs, and local start-ups by focusing on digital skills, compliance, and funding.

The guest speaker was South African entrepreneur Theo Baloyi, the founder of the popular sneaker brand Bathu Shoes, who shared his journey from an informal start-up to a massive retail franchise.
