The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) has installed a new flight information display system (Fids) worth approximately N$1.3 million at the Walvis Bay International Airport as part of efforts to modernise airport operations and improve passenger services.
The system provides passengers with real-time flight information through digital display screens installed at key locations across the terminal, including check-in counters, departure lounges, waiting areas and other passenger service points.
A media statement by the NAC says the system comprises advanced Fids software, high-quality professional display screens, dedicated operator workstations and a robust server environment designed to deliver reliable and efficient performance.
Passengers will now have easier access to up-to-date information on flight arrivals, departures, boarding times, gate allocations and operational changes, improving the overall travel experience and passenger movement within the terminal.
“The system will also improve communication between airlines and passengers while enhancing coordination across airport operations to support reliable and efficient service delivery,” the statement reads.
The implementation of the new system reflects NAC’s commitment to service excellence and creating world-class airport experiences, it concludes.
