Auditing and accounting firm Deloitte Namibia has announced that its head of risk advisory and human capital services and Deloitte Botswana IT audit director, Melani Harrison, has been appointed as the company’s first woman country leader in Namibia.

This takes effect on 1 June (tomorrow).

“I am honoured to be appointed to this role and excited to be part of yet another first in the history of Deloitte Namibia.

“I am looking forward to engaging with our people, clients and stakeholders as we set on this new journey together.

“I would also like to thank Ramsay McDonald (managing partner) for the years of dedicated leadership and his love for this firm and this country,” Harrison says.

She joined the firm in 2005 as a junior IT audit consultant and left it in 2010 to join De Beers Marine Namibia as a senior internal auditor.

She later became the company’s information security manager.

Harrison rejoined Deloitte as associate director in 2015, and was appointed as risk advisory director at Deloitte Namibia in 2017.

“I am delighted to be handing over the reins to Melanie. Her appointment as country leader is another historic moment for the Namibian firm.

“Melanie will be the first woman country leader and will also continue the rich history of a Namibian being the leader of Deloitte in Namibia.

“She is passionate and deeply cares about the positive role the firm plays for our clients, society and people,” McDonald said.
