Defence minister Peter Vilho has resigned after meeting president Hage Geingob today at State House.
This was confirmed by sources briefed on the matter.
Geingob met with Vilho today so that he can explain allegations of illicit proceeds in an undeclared foreign bank account in his name.
The State House meeting was announced by Geingob’s spokesperson, Alfredo Hengari, on Thursday last week.
“In light of current revelations about the minister of defence and veteran affairs, Hafeni Vilho, holding an undeclared bank account in Hong Kong with HSBC, allegedly linked to illicit proceeds, president Geingob summoned honourable Hafeni Vilho to a meeting on Tuesday 6 April,” Hengari stated.
