Friday is the registration deadline for artists interested in participating in this year’s Omulunga Radio Gospel Music Awards.
According to Omulunga Radio station manager Simon Mundandala, there will be no extension after the deadline, so artists who have not yet registered should do so to avoid disappointment.
Registration can be done at omulunga.com.na or through a link on Omulunga Radio’s Facebook page.
“So far, 200 gospel artists have registered in various categories. “We will award nine artists in each category, with each winner receiving N$10 000 plus trophies,” says Mundandala.
This year’s awards ceremony will take place on 16 October at the National Theatre of Namibia.
Mundandala says the awards are intended to recognise and appreciate those who preach to the soul through music.”We noticed that they are not appreciated for what they do for the community and we want to help them grow to the same level as other international gospel artists.”
Attendees at the ceremony can expect plenty of entertainment with the large line-up of gospel artists performing on the night, he says.
“We are here to serve the community and our artists are part of it. Furthermore, radio without our local music would not make us proud of who we are today.”
As part of the station’s social responsibility of giving back to the community, Mundandala says organisers selected gospel artists and choirs to benefit from the event.
Tickets for the main ceremony are available at Computicket for N$150 and N$350 for VIP tickets. The show starts at 18h00.
