I can’t tell if it’s killing me or making me stronger.
“Wake up child, do not forget you have outstanding fees that are not settled”, that is what keeps me up all night.
All I think of is money, money and money, oh what a word. Why does everything have to revolve around it. Want to eat? Yes, Do you have money? No, then forget it.
As I speak I am a fourth year civil engineering student at the University of Namibia and it’s been hectic, but that is not why I am here.
I am here to find something or someone to put my frustration on. Something to punch so hard , maybe only then will I understand why I have to suffer this way. I am tired of crying, tired of begging, tired of explaining, tired of looking for something that I don’t seem to find.
All I dreamt of was the freedom of studying without worrying about who is going to settle these fees? Who is going to pay for this food? Who is going to pay for this accommodation? or Who is going to pay for the transport fairs? I am tired of these questions.
I tell myself ‘BREATHE CHILD, IT’S ALMOST OVER’, this phrase works sometimes but other times reality hits so hard, all you would want to do is scream because last time you checked kapana does not produce N$18 000 which is equivalent to the engineering campus’s hostel fees per semester.
With that I am out.
