China Railway employee dies after workplace injury in Windhoek

A China Railway Seventh Group employee (34) died on Monday after a workplace injury.

The employee was part of a three-man team working on road upgrades near the Rehoboth road block.

The death was confirmed on Tuesday by the Metal and Allied Namibian Workers Union (Manwu).

“An employee of China Railway passed on yesterday due to an injury on duty,” Manwu general secretary Angula Angula told The Namibian on Wednesday.

The employee was injured on Monday at the work site and died the same day, Angula said.

The Namibian understands that labour inspectors were called to the site on Tuesday.
