The business sector has described founding president Sam Nujoma as a leader who lay the foundation for economic growth and industrialisation.
Economist Josef Sheehama says Nujoma was dedicated to Namibia’s social and economic progress.
“Nujoma was the greatest leader who brought the nation together, led the democratic transition, and established the groundwork for economic growth and his vision for Namibia’s industrialisation by 2030,” he says.
He says the business community will continue to honour his legacy of fighting poverty, advancing social justice, and becoming an independent country through education.
“The founding father established an environment that fosters economic growth and the flourishing of the business community,” Sheehama says.
Chairman of the Federation of Namibia’s Tourism Association Ally Karaerua says Nujoma has helped shape the country’s uniqueness, making it a desired destination globally.
“We will forever honour his legacy as we promote Namibia as a stable and peaceful destination,” she says.
Managing director of Bank Windhoek Baronice Hans says Nujoma dedicated his life to the development of Namibia and will be remembered for it.
“Nujoma dedicated his life to the freedom, unity, and development of our beloved nation. We extend our heartfelt condolences,” she says.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Hospitality Association of Namibia thanked Nujoma for his contribution to the country’s development.
“We are deeply grateful for all Nujoma has done, and may his soul continue to rest in piece,” the association’s statement reads.
Namibia Local Business Association vice president Peter Kanu describes Nujoma as a nationalist, a pan-Africanist, and a hero of the Namibian revolution.
“Nujoma dedicated his entire life to the well-being of our country and our people. He was a true dedicated and inspiring leader among our African nations and the globe,” he says.
He says the founding president’s legacy will live on in many dedicated entrepreneurs.
“Naloba calls for resilience and unity among the Namibian nation and the world as we pay tribute and celebrate our found
ing president,” Kanu says.
