Brave Gladiators captain Lovisa ‘Tuya’ Mulunga has been recognised for her community outreach work inspiring youth through sport and education programmes in Windhoek.
A statement on Women Football Development’s official Facebook page reads that Mulunga is the Cosafa women’s champion, along with the Brave Gladiators.
They recently lifted the FNB Women Super League trophy with champions FC Ongos.
“Lovisa Mulunga, a notable sport brand on and off the field, inspires Namibian children through engaging with community-based social impact programmes.
“One such local programme is the Riverheights Sports and Education centre programme that continues to be the go-to place and centre of joy and growth on the outskirts of Windhoek,” the statement reads.
WFNews26 recently spoke to Mulunga to find out what inspires her the most in her career, to which she responded that she is inspired by her upbringing that is built on respect, confidence, hard work and integrity.
“To do what I love with total commitment, love and care. I care for our country, and I care for what we stand for, and I too can contribute to peace and welfare,” she said.
The Brave Gladiators skipper said her personal wish is that young people have access to education, and that education “would open opportunities for participation and networking”.
She said programmes like those at Riverheights Sports and Education Centre are great examples of how opportunities are created for young boys and girls to engage in a healthy and safe way of networking and learning.
“Sport helps young people dream bigger than their circumstances,” Mulunga said.
The FC Ongos captain said her focus is now shifted towards the preparation for the Confederation of African Football Women’s Champions qualifiers, as Cosafa prepares to play host to the Namibian champions this year.
The FC Ongos and Brave Gladiators captain has a chance at three gold medals as the Namibia Football Association has announced the fixtures for the 2026 NFA Cup for Women Super League.
