A boy (11) drowned at Tilda Viljoen Dam at Gobabis when he, along with other children, went to the dam to swim.
This is according to a Namibian police report issued on Sunday.
The police say the deceased, identified as Immanuel Eisig, reportedly went swimming at the dam with four other boys aged between six and 11 on Wednesday, 7 October.
The boy’s body was recovered in the direction where his clothes had been found the previous day.
In a separate incident, police are investigating a murder at Wanaheda after a man (38), identified as Jason Natanael, was allegedly stabbed during an argument.
The incident occurred on Friday night.
Meanwhile, police in the Khomas region are investigating the discovery of a foetus outside a public toilet at Okahandja Park in Windhoek.
The foetus, described as being in a decomposed state and wrapped in a plastic bag, was discovered on Friday afternoon.
The police are also investigating several cases where victims are suspected of having taken their own lives.
In Katutura, a woman (45), identified as Thariel Kasaera, was found dead in a toilet at a house on Friday morning.
In Oniimwandi village in the Onayena area of the Oshikoto region, the body of Daniel Akuunda (58) was discovered on Friday night.
Another suspected case was reported at Makalani location at Tsumkwe on Friday night.
The man is identified as Mathew Thomas (28).
On Saturday morning, the body of Daniel Jacobs (48) was discovered at Farm Docheib Noord near Gibeon.
In another case, a housebreaking and theft incident was reported at Oniimwandi village in the Oshana region on Friday. Items valued at N$63 500 were reportedly stolen, from the house.
The items stolen include a firearm with a magazine containing six live rounds and N$50 000 in cash.
The police say no recovery has been made and the suspects remain unknown.
The police also arrested a man (28) at Mariental for allegedly possessing an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The suspect was reportedly found hitchhiking along the C19 main road, about 45 kilometres along the Mariental–Maltahöhe road, on Friday morning.
He allegedly possessed a 2.43 rifle and 20 live rounds of ammunition, as well as spent cartridges, but failed to produce a firearm licence.
He is expected to appear in the Mariental Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
