DISCARDED Brave Warriors striker Wilko Risser is close to learning whether his trial at South African Premier League side Bloemfontein Celtic was successful.
Bloemfontein Celtic coach Clinton Larsen confirmed that the club will make a decision on Risser’s future before the end of the week.Risser arrived for his trial in Mangaung last week, where he has been training under the watchful eye of Larsen with a view of securing a PSL contract.’Risser is in the second week of assessment now. He is doing well. He is a big striker, at 1,95 metres tall. He is a very big striker. He is doing well. He is a target man and brings a different dimension to all the other strikers that we’ve got. We will make a decision by the end of this week,’ said Larsen.Risser has played abroad during his career, which includes stints in Germany, Malta and England. He was last on the books of Aldershot Town FC, before making his way to the Free State.The 30-year-old Risser has won 14 caps for the Brave Warriors and scored five goals, but he has not been part of coach Bernard Kaanjuka’s plans since he took over the reigns of the national team in September 2011. Risser’s last match for Namibia came in March 2011 when they lost 4-0 to Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou in an African Cup of Nations qualifying match. -Kickoff.com
