BLACK Africa won the MTC Namibia Premier League title on Thursday night after a 3-0 victory over their arch rivals Orlando Pirates.
Goals by McCartney Naweseb, Derl Goagoseb and Immanuel Heita gave them a resounding victory that set the celebrations off amongst players and their loyal, singing, fans.
It was their first league title in five years, since 2014 when a Brian Isaacs coached side won their last of four consecutive titles.
It was also the first league title for coach Paulus Shipanga, who received an early birthday present as he turns 39 years old on Sunday. At that age he I probably also the youngest coach to have won a Premiership title since independence.
BA were full value for their win and dominated all departments of the game.
Their livewire midfielder Donald Geiseb was a constant thorn in Pirates’ defence with his tricky runs, while Naweseb, Goagoseb and Dynamo Fredericks all stretched Pirates’ defence to the limit with their incisive attacks.
For Pirtaes, Denzel Narib and Atlast Musasa came close but they seldom threatened, while Vitapi Ngaruka and Donovan Kanjaa comfortably dealt with their high balls.
The defeat pushes Pirates closer to the dreaded relegation axe as they remain bottom of the log with only two matches to play. If they win both they might still be saved, but it will also depend on other results going their way.
