Big Brother Africa: Biggie Blows The Whistle

EEEEUUUUUUW BBA nation, it seems as if Lerato is set for misplaced martyrdom, if not sainthood, if some people have their way.
The South African housemate’s mother and some of her friends are up in arms that Hannington hasn’t been booted from the house after this week’s WWF bout in The Barn, which pitted ‘Hot Stuff Lolo Baby’ against ‘Hulk Hannington’.

As a result, they’re threatening to stage a march on the BBA studios in Johannesburg on Saturday.I sympathise with their concern but I really feel they’re taking it a shove too far.Hanni was wrong to react the way he did. And I, for one, was disappointed and sad that it came to that. The young Ugandan has worked hard on controlling the volatile temper that flared so often during BBA4. And he, more than anyone, must be disappointed that in a few crazy minutes so much of what he had invested in being ‘a better man’ flew out the window. However, Lerato was also in the wrong, and should own up to her part in the fracas. As is well known by now, the two of them argued and it deteriorated into a shoving match. In the process, wine, hands and insults were flying everywhere. It was a given that someone was bound to come off the worse for wear. Hanni has apologised, Lerato has not. I know Lerato, I like Lerato. She’s pretty and she’s smart, but she also needs to be smart enough, and big enough, to admit to her part in the events that unfolded. As I see it, it would be for the best if her mother and her friends help her work through it when they see her again, and also help her to face where she went wrong. To shackle her in victimhood is in no one’s interest, least of all Lera’s. She deserves better.OK peeps, I know this is serious stuff but it’s been a talking point among sections of society across the continent this week. Otherwise, I’m not staying long. We’ve given most of the page over to your views today.Keep them coming!!Just a quick update on Biggie’s pronouncement on The Barn brawl. What Sheila calls ‘a parallel universe’ is in lockdown. For now Biggie has declared it an alcohol-free zone for at least a week. After calling the barnmates together she announced that both Lerato and Hannington were seeing a psychologist.Further, there were a number of ways in which the situation could be resolved. With apparent reference to this week’s task on malaria, she noted that issues affecting communities in Africa are being addressed.’Big Brother would like to extend this, to deal with the issue of violence. Barnmates, you have read and you understand the Barn rules. You all know that physical violence is unacceptable. Verbal violence is equally unacceptable. However, as in all conflict situations reasonable, rational and sober solutions can be found – if the participants are willing to work towards them.’ON PROBATION”For this reason Big Brother would like to suggest that this very difficult situation be used to help create a deeper understanding of both conflict resolution and anger management. This is not going to be easy, but Big Brother will involve professional consultants over the next week to assist. Obviously this will require the voluntary involvement of all the barnmates.’Understand very clearly that there will be no more violence in the Barn. From this moment on barnmates should regard themselves as being ‘on probation’. There will be no more warnings.’In addition, Big Brother said she would prepare projects ‘to help heal the wounds, rather than making them worse’. – Stay tuned … – Keep watching all the action go down 24/7 on DStv Channel 198 and don’t forget to catch the daily highlights packages on M-Net Africa, M-Net Africa Channel 102.And don’t forget the eviction show on Sunday night.
