A KHORIXAS resident has laid charges of attempted murder against the Police after he was shot in the stomach in the late hours of January 9.

Police allege that the man charged at on-duty Police officers with a knife and a pair of scissors.
According to a Police report, officers on patrol duty were called to house number P-14 at the village to attend to a disturbance at the complainant’s girlfriend’s home.
Upon arrival there, the officers allege that the man, who had apparently been the cause of the ruckus, charged at them with the weapons.
“The victim ignored several warning shots,” Police said about the situation which led to them shooting the man in the abdomen.
The man was taken to the Khorixas State Hospital, where he is said to be in a stable condition.
* A newborn baby girl died in the hands of villagers from Uukuulamba last week Monday, after she was found abandoned in the bush.
Police say villagers from the Omusati village failed to take the baby to the nearest hospital or Police station on time, which resulted in the child’s death.
A case of murder is being investigated against the mother, whose identity is yet unknown.
* The apparent loss of N$300 led to the end of a young life at Rundu last Tuesday. On that night, Isaak Ndara(24) was stabbed to death with a broken bottle at the Kehemu settlement.
According to Police information, Ndara had been quarrelling with the 24-year-old suspect over money that the suspect said had been stolen by the deceased.
Ndara, Police said, suffered stab wounds all over his body.
* A 43-year-old man died on the road between Okahandja and Otjiwarongo last Sunday, after being hit by a car while changing a flat tyre.
The deceased was identified as Iyambo Hamakali. He died on the spot.
* A 28-year-old man who lived on a plot at Brakwater is said to have committed suicide by shooting himself.
The deceased, who died at his home at Plot 32 Brakwater, was identified as Herald Uirab.
The Police said Uirab shot himself in the head with a rifle.
