Swapo party central committee and politburo member Hofni Iipinge has called on the government to shift focus from debate to decisive action.
Iipinge noted that while Namibia has laid commendable groundwork with its policies, many remain ineffective in serving citizens. He emphasised that ministers attend numerous summits, but there needs to be concrete action that resonates with Namibians.
“Our Swapo party manifesto must serve as our roadmap to address crucial issues like healthcare, housing and food security,” he stated.
He highlighted the severe shortages in hospitals, stressing, “It is time to move past discussions. Universal health coverage is a cornerstone of the Swapo manifesto, and we must act swiftly to implement these necessary policies.”
Furthermore, Iipinge called for accelerated land allocation for housing and agriculture, particularly for youth and women, who he said are pivotal to the country’s future. He asserted that combating poverty demands collaboration with private institutions and a commitment to regional solidarity.
“Prosperous regions should extend support to less developed areas, fostering inclusive economic growth throughout the country. Prioritising food production is essential to ensure every household can access nutritious food and well-being,” he added.
Iipinge also emphasised the urgent need for youth empowerment, advocating for resources to be channeled into creating economic and educational opportunities that revitalise rural communities and curb migration.
“Additionally, enhancing our sport infrastructure is vital to nurturing local talent and promoting professionalism within the sector.”
“The time for endless debates has passed; we must begin implementing the policies that will truly benefit the Namibian people.”
