Madison Bergh of Marlins Swimming Club was the star performer at the Nasfed Bank Windhoek Short Course Gala 4 last weekend.
The gala concluded on 15 August, following three days of competitive swimming in three regions: Khomas, Erongo and //Kharas.
The gala, held from 13–15 August 2026, brought swimmers together across junior, youth, senior and masters categories.
The standout performance came from Bergh (17), who broke three records during the competition.
Bergh set a time of 4:29.11 in the 400m freestyle, breaking a national Open female record and in the process also set a new girls 17–18 age group record.
She then followed that up with an impressive 9:19.79 in the 800m freestyle, setting a new record in the girls 17–18 category.
The results included strong performances across the various age groups, from the youngest swimmers through to senior and masters competitors, providing an important racing opportunity for swimmers to assess their progress, gain experience and chase qualifying standards.
Although a number of swimmers were affected by seasonal flu during the weekend, the overall outcome of the gala was extremely positive.
Nasfed would like to congratulate every swimmer who competed and acknowledge the coaches, officials, volunteers, parents and supporters whose efforts contributed to a successful event.
Special appreciation goes to Bank Windhoek, the main sponsor of the Nasfed Short Course Gala, for its continued investment in swimming and the development of Namibian athletes.
