THE Standard Bank 09 Music Festival (SB.09.MF), a collaboration between Standard Bank Namibia and Mshasho, was launched in Windhoek on Monday.
The festival is lined up for 25 September.
Multi-award-winning musician, producer and entrepreneur King Tee Dee (Martin Morocky) this week said the festival was inspired by his popular 29.09.18 and 28.09.19 concerts.
Morocky said the concert was not held last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The last time the concert was held was in 2019. All of last year we and the Standard Bank Namibia team have been having back-and-forth discussions about the project. I am excited to launch it,” he said.
Magreth Mengo, Standard Bank Namibia’s head of marketing, communications and corporate social investment, expressed her excitement about the new partnership.
“It is not about us leading. We want to do things differently. We are doing it because we want to do what matters to our country and our people. We will support every dream that speaks to us and aligns with our visions and goals if we can. We are so excited to welcome the new partnership with the Mshasho brand,” she said.
Mengo said the bank decided to team up with the Mshasho brand because they believe in it.
She said they aim to help Namibian projects grow.
“The Mshasho brand is a 100% Namibian project. We reviewed past concerts. Two successful events have already been held. We want to help and make it possible again this year,” she said.
Morocky said when the first concert was held in 2018 it was known as The Dogg 29.09.18 final concert.
“The first concert was when The Dogg retired from the music scene. I am now known as King Tee Dee. The Dogg was more known for kwaito music. I just rebranded. I know how people liked The Dogg, but I wanted something different. A lot of companies change. They just want something new,” he said.
No performing act or venue has been revealed yet.
Morocky said he would release more information about the project at a later stage.
“The public should follow my social media platforms. I will release new information there regularly. I will reveal the name of a performing act every month,” he said.
“King Tee Dee does not have an album yet, and I am looking forward to releasing one,” he said.
