The Windhoek Magistrate’s Court has postponed the bail hearing of murder suspect Tjizake Murangi (22) to Tuesday.
Murangi stands accused of murdering his 29-year-old ex-girlfriend, Frieda Amadhila.
The accused, who is also a gym instructor, made a brief appearance in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
It is alleged that Murangi stabbed Amadhila eight times last April when he gained entry to her rented apartment in Windhoek’s Ausspannplatz area after she ended their relationship.
At the time of the incident, the police reported that neighbours alerted them to the couple’s fight, and upon arrival, found the flat locked.
The suspect allegedly drove to Katutura State Hospital, parked at the emergency department’s entrance and told nurses that Amadhila needed their urgent attention.
She was declared dead upon arrival.
Murangi subsequently got admitted to the hospital after trying to take his life.
Magistrate Monica Andjaba is presiding over the matter.
Defence lawyer Milton Engelbrecht is representing the suspect, and Rowan van Wyk is representing the state.
