Auto show offers 17 car brands on one track

The auto show, the biggest of its kind hosted by one dealer, offered not only cars, trucks, tractors and farm implements, but also spare parts, tyres and even vehicle financing.

Both the Namibian Police and Windhoek City Police had the opportunity to showcase their traffic-related services.

They offered visitors reference checks on outstanding traffic fines or warrants of arrest.

The vehicles on display varied from the most advanced two-door sport models to family and commercial vehicles.

Horacio ‘Rassie’ Rietz from M+Z Motors says the idea for the show started about three years ago, but this year the dream was bigger and better.

“This year we decided to go bigger, meaning taking every brand that is linked to M+Z that is now also with Associated Motor Holdings (AMH) that will join us soon, and they joined us here now,” Rietz says.

AMH keeps brands like Mitsubishi, Kia, Renault and Hyundai and will soon be under the M+Z flag.

Despite having 17 brands under one roof, it is not the end yet, Rietz says.

Visitors could take some of the cars for a test drive around the tracks, while the more adventurous had the chance to take the various 4×4 brands, like the VW Amarok, Mahindra, JAC and Mitsubishi on an off-road track.

For those who missed this year’s auto show, Rietz says they can be assured the event will become a regular occasion on the local auto calendar.

Local musicians Riaan Smit, Sagaris and The Ells performed during the show.

Monique Taylor was the lucky winner of the Harley Davidson that was up for grabs.

Around 1 000 test drives were undertaken during the day.
