The Affirmative Repositioning (AR) movement has filed a formal complaint with the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) citing ballot paper shortages, mobile teams failing to set up shop and turning voters away illegally.
This, AR labelled, as irregularities.
AR, in a letter to ECN chief electoral and referenda officer Peter Shaama, said Wednesday’s election activities are a “grave infringement on the constitutional principles of free, fair and transparent elections, which lie at the heart of Namibia’s democracy”.
They demanded that the ECN address their concerns by end of business today.
Some of the other issues involve overfilled ballot boxes, power disruptions, unsecured and exposed ballot boxes.
The party wants the ECN to explain what is the current status of the election process and whether it is still open.
“What has been done to ensure protection of ballot papers, who have been left open?
“What should the voters do, who could not vote due to lack of ballot papers,” he questioned.
