A week ago, Apple created a social media storm after the announcement of its newest products on the market with the biggest being the Apple iPhone XS, XR and XS Max as well as improvements on the Apple Watch.
Here’s what we know about Apple’s major phones this year.
The iPhone XS has a super retina display, meaning a bigger and better screen, with other unique features added to it including a new stainless steel design, wireless charging (which claims to be faster than the iPhone X) and an improvement on the advanced Face ID. As usual, there’s a new bionic chip inserted called the A12 Bionic and of course, Apple is showering it with compliments we’ve all heard before: “The most powerful, the smartest, the best”.
They should leave it up to the customers to decide for themselves whether the product really is up to scratch.
Nonetheless, the XS promises a dual-camera system, meaning your photos will have even more definition and quality – thanks to the new systems in place including a faster sensor and better videos. According to Apple, the XS has “ultra-fast wireless” for download speeds, but you know how it goes with Wi-Fi connections in Namibia… So you probably won’t be able to use it to its fullest potential.
The XS Max has similar specifications; the only difference is that this device has the largest screen on an iPhone. And seeing as iPhone has had massive phones in the past, this 6,5-inch display is targeted for those who like their phones big, but it’s not necessarily a life-changer, seeing as both the XS and XS Max have similar specs including 64 (or 256 or 512) gigabytes worth of storage, improved stereo sound, better Siri shortcuts, new photo editing features and more.
The XR is the younger sibling of the XS and XS Max. This phone has a new liquid retina display with the notch on top, a faster chip and a glass back that can be likened to the iPhone 8.
However, the phone has richer colours, supports wireless charging, features an impressive camera system and is much cheaper.
According to Apple Insider, the demand for the XS hasn’t been as enthusiastic as the X last year, but the XS Max is doing better. We’re not surprised – it seems that all the rage is about how big a phone it is.
As for any revolutionary features – there aren’t any.
That’s left for the Apple Watch, which chief executive officer Tim Cook believes is a product that is “defining what a watch can do for you”.
The new Apple Watch features an electrical heart sensor, fall detection and an emergency SOS as well as better-looking faces. Claiming that it’s the bestselling watch in the world, Apple has got all the confidence in its product and although there was skepticism when the product first launched, more people are warming up to the idea of making it a part of their daily lives, including their fitness wear. We can’t be mad.
If you’re in a hurry, the new operating system iOS 12 is available for download now on iPhone devices. Some of the greater developments include an improvement on the 3D touch, multiple facial support on Face ID, new gestures, screenshot support and new features in the voice memos, among many others.
