THE northern duo Allex and Shyer’s brand new single ‘Check On My Time ‘ offers some positive inspiration for both life and love.
The song is an original classic over a catchy house beat, co-produced and co-written by new kid on the block, Blaq Naz Maritoko.
The song is destined to be a dance floor classic. The beats will thrill DJs and dance lovers worldwide. Their vocals are iconic and their style is unmatched by any current dance artist in Namibia, says DJ Gee, from Shipi FM.
DJ Eddy of Otjii FM also believes the new track will soon be a club anthem.
“Allex and Shyer are one of those artistic pairings that over time have become classic. Both are incredibly talented and together they are magic! says DJ K2, a local club DJ.
Allex (real name Tomas Hamutengela) and Shyer (real name Mateus Ekongo) have been performing together since 2010.
The duo is not new to the industry, with their previous albums having made waves, especially in the north central parts of the country.
Their first hit single, ‘Handishikongo ‘, was released in 2010 and received massive airplay on some local radio stations, followed by the track, ‘Yolanda ‘, featuring Mushe in 2013.
The duo released their debut album, ‘Through Thick n Thin ‘, in 2015, which saw them nominated for the Namibia Annual Music Awards in 2016.
That album featured a combination of kwaito, reggae, and Afro-pop sounds, while their second offering, ‘Don ‘t Judge Me ‘, was released in 2017.
This album featured a combination of Afro-pop, kwiku, and reggae-dancehall, as well as hits like ‘Wendy ‘, ‘Don ‘t Judge Me ‘, ‘Chore Mbunda ‘, ‘I Promise ‘, as well as ‘Tonya ‘.
Their highly anticipated new album, ‘Fire Can ‘t Cool ‘ will feature strictly classic Afro house and miniature amapiano beats on tracks such as ‘Check On My Time ‘ and ‘Mr Party 2022 ‘, which are both currently enjoying airplay on YouTube and local radio stations.
