Alfa Stelvio: The car with a pedigree

The car, the only one in Namibia, comes with a powerful engine that pushes the executive SUV from 0km/h to 100km/h in 3,8 seconds.

That is pretty fast.

The car's safety features and driver's assist, however, ensure the Alfa always remains under control.

Kicking out 375kW with 601Nm through an eight-speed automatic gearbox, this car means business and comes standard with a top speed of just over 300 km/h.

The Stelvio is one of a handful of Alfa models built under strict regulations in the same factory as his distant relative, the Ferrari.

Even the engine tells the Ferrari story, with some powerful roaring.

The car has 20-inch wheels, sleek lines and narrow, aggressive headlights.

Its high performance not only requires a well-experienced driver, but comes with all the safety features required for such a car, with double-braking callipers on all four wheels to compensate for any emergency braking needs.

Elroy Jacobs, the sales executive at M+Z Motors Namibia says the vehicle is more than just a car.

“It has Q4 technology that helps the driver be in full control at all times, but you must also have some good driving skills,” she says.

The car's designers have not overlooked anything to ensure it fulfils safety requirements, such as lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and blindspot detection.

The interior is a clear indication of pure Italian craftsmanship, and the attention to detail in the stitching of the Alcantara suede leather-look upholstery speaks volumes.

The Stelvio is fitted with some of the world's best sound systems, the Harman Kardon, to add more value and sound quality.

What grabs the attention is the vehicle's carbon fibre trimmings.

Jacobs says it is indeed real, and that nothing artificial is used anywhere in or on this car – hence its price.

She says all services and repairs are done locally at M+Z workshops.
