Africans Can Save Africa

Africans Can Save Africa

I WANT to take the time to respond to Mr. Basil Enwegbara’s letter, which was published on 27 April 2004.

I agree that Africans can save Africa. That we must go down the route as the EU, but when was the last time, sir that you read up on SADC and SACU, for instance? The policies are in place; all we need is time and patience. The African leaders that you criticize so severely are doing their jobs.We have good leaders and we are working for a better tomorrow for all not just for a few.I want to point out to you when you are finished with your studies in the USA it will be your responsibility to come back to the Africa.Look at African professional soccer players – they always come to play for their countries in the African Cup of Nations.Look at Frank Fredericks, – he came back and is working hard to improve our athletes. They want to improve Africa’s standards, and so must you.It is insulting to read a letter where you get the feeling that you are inferior to the writer of the letter because he is from a first world country. At least we in Africa have more character.T J Dreyer WindhoekThat we must go down the route as the EU, but when was the last time, sir that you read up on SADC and SACU, for instance?
