He retired from the diplomatic service following a short stint as Italian ambassador to Nigeria, but returned to Namibia every year as he and his wife kept a home in Windhoek. The Minister of Safety and Security, Nangolo Mbumba, will speak at the event in the Main Gallery and friends who wish to do so, are also invited to say a few words.
