Zim Students Ignored

Zim Students Ignored

ALLOW me a space to express my outrage about the Namibian students who are currently studying in Zimbabwe and some of those who already completed their studies in that country but who are now not employed.

The bitter concern that forced me to write this article is that I want to be assured by our government that these students can also be employed in this country or they are just wasting their time. Lawmakers, or anyone responsible, please answer the following two simple questions.* Does the government know that there are hundreds of Namibian students who are currently in Zimbabwe and went through Toti Consultants unlike those who are at teachers colleges, and those at schools of mining who are sponsored by the government?* In case of In-service training or job attachments are these students also considered to have an opportunity in a firm or government in this country for them to become competent in the industry like Polytechnic and Unam students are prioritized to explore their skills and smell the glory? As far as I know Namibian youth are really hungry for education, but the shortcomings are that tertiary education in this country is very expensive compared to other SADC countries including Zimbabwe. To add insult to injury, the Namibian Qualification Authority is also a mountain to climb with regard the scant information they have for accreditation and evaluation of foreign institutions and qualifications. It is disappointing for such a mandated institution can’t make concrete research on institutions outside Namibia and keep on giving reckless responses to students who suffered a lot aiming for a better life instead of being hindered by a lack of valid information. We need to spend time on positive innovations to ease the lives of Namibians instead of wasting time on redundant debates and Swapo fighting RDP and vice versa.I also believe that it is foolish and waste of time to form a union on issues like that of exile kids. Remember this year in November is an election!Moses ObamaVia e-mail
