WHS off to winning start

Windhoek High School got off to a winning start in the Standard Bank Namibia Secondary Schools Rugby u19 Premier League competition after beating Pro Ed Academy 39-15 on Saturday. 

Windhoek High School took a while to get going on their home field at Vegkop and at halftime the Swakopmund based team Pro Ed Academy had taken a 15-10 lead. 

WHS, however, finished strongly, running in seven tries in total to Pro Ed’s two tries to comfortably win the match.

WHS’ try scorers were flanker Luca Cindano and left wing William Beukes who scored two each; and prop Jayden van Zyl, right wing Sammy Soobramoney and replacement back Jurgen Meyer with one try each, while centre Davito van Wyk added two conversions. 

Pro Ed’s try scorers were lock Jivaldo Pienaar and flanker Shaheem Kharugab, while scrumhalf Waldo Human added one conversion and a penalty.

In other matches in the u19 Premier League so far, Windhoek Gymnasium beat Walvis Bay Private School 31-17, Windhoek Afrikaanse Privaat Skool beat Tsumeb Gymnasium 18-10, and Tsumeb Gymnasium beat Elnatan 17-12.

In the only u19 Premier League match this coming weekend, Elnatan Private School from Stampriet will have to undertake a 600km trip to take on Moria Private School at Outjo on Saturday.
